Jennifer’s incredible weight loss journey. Feb/2010
Jennifer has been on a weight loss journey that began with lap band surgery on March 13, 2009. While she says that was a way to control her appetite, her 158 pound total weight loss to date is also a result of exercise. After getting bored with her normal routine, she joined TITLE Boxing Club and she's experiencing more results than she ever anticipated.
"I have to admit, I was scared to death to walk into the door," says Jennifer. "I'm so glad I did. It's the most fun I've ever had exercising in my life."
She took the leap of faith and joined TITLE Boxing Club on September 28, 2009, not able to do a single jumping jack. With her POWER HOUR instructors' encouragement, she worked at her own pace, building strength and confidence. Today, she can do 50 or more jumping jacks. Plus, she's losing weight and inches.
"I don't know my exact size when I joined TITLE Boxing Club, but overall since having lap band surgery and starting to exercise regularly, I've lost over 103 inches and 158 pounds," she says. "It only took a few weeks after I joined the club to notice results. My clothes were looser, I saw some muscle definition, I could do more exercise reps and my flexibility increased tremendously. Just since December, I lost five inches off my hips and waist."
If you think lap band surgery is the key to Jennifer's success, she'll tell you otherwise; she's quick to note the surgery is just a tool to help you restrict your diet. She knew to achieve sustained weight loss, she had to exercise and eat right. So Jennifer hits it hard four times a week, mostly in boxing classes at 151st and Antioch with Joe Perry.
"All of my instructors are so encouraging. I really feel like I'm getting one-on-one attention even in a class because they all want to make sure you reach your goals while making sure your technique is right," explains Jennifer. "There isn't a time I leave a POWER HOUR that I don't think I worked every muscle in my body. It's not just cardio, it really is a full body workout and I'm encouraged when I see my muscles tone and the fat slip away."
Jennifer says she can run and not feel like she's going to pass out now. And she can do the sit ups and jumping jacks and punch the bag the right way. It's all thanks to her trainers.
"Joe once told me, 'If you don't quit on me, I won't quit on you.' That keeps me motivated and now for the first time I bought a full length mirror so I can see my progress," she says. "I'm getting healthier, too. When I started my resting heart rate was 80 beats a minute, now it's 40. It's an amazing feat and a lot of my success is from working out at TITLE Boxing Club. This is the best money I've ever spent. I tell everyone my story. It really has changed my life and I know it can help other people who are in a similar situation as mine."
