Rebeca the Boxing Bridesmaid - February 2008
What does a girl with 10 weddings looming in 2008, three of which she will walk down the aisle as a Bridesmaid (in May no less), do to prepare? She joins TITLE Boxing Club.
"The whole concept sounded like fun so I tried it out the day it opened and I've been there ever since," says Rebeca. "I was really sore at the beginning so I knew I was working the muscles I had been ignoring. That's a good thing; I have weddings to get in shape for!"
Rebeca, an executive assistant in Overland Park, has been going three or four times a week, attending morning, evening and weekend classes. She tries to alternate between boxing and kickboxing to mix it up.
"All the POWER HOUR classes provide cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training," explains Rebeca. "The boxing classes work my core and arms more while I really feel kickboxing classes work my legs and derriere. I'm having so much fun beating up a bag and seeing results, it's crazy!"
Crazy is right! Without altering her diet, Rebeca has already dropped a dress size at a bridesmaid dress fitting. She fully expects to lose another dress size, requiring alterations, before her first wedding of the season.
"I feel myself getting stronger and more toned each day," says Rebeca. "That's what keeps me going; getting up at the crack of dawn on cold winter days to make it for the 6:00 a.m. classes. Each inch I lose makes this so worth it."
Guests aren't to worry. This boxing bridesmaid will keep her newfound fighting techniques to herself-as long as they keep themselves in line.
"I've got a killer jab and front kick and I know how to throw a punch. Not that I ever plan on fighting anyone, but it's nice to know should someone get fresh with me, I can take care of business," laughs Rebeca.
