Bilal Furqan has been exposed to martial arts almost his entire life—his father has been instructing for over 35 years. Those leadership skills were passed from father to son, with Bilal teaching when he was only 13 at the John F. Kennedy Community Center in Kansas City, Kansas and the Wayne Miner Community Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Today, he uses his mastery of the hardest styles to lead POWER HOUR fitness classes at TITLE Boxing Club. Bilal is able to pull from an arsenal of training styles—Boshido, Juijitsu, Hopkido, Taekwondo, Kali Eskrima (Filipino martial arts) boxing and Muay Thai kickboxing.
“One of my proudest accomplishments is my after school and summer programs designed to get kids off the streets and into something to build their self-esteem. Through training, kids develop a level of discipline that is critical to their success in life. And that doesn’t stop into adulthood. Anyone can become empowered through training,” says Bilal.
Bilal knows this from first-hand experience. In his early teens he was introduced to the world of kung fu. After studying his whole life it was time to explore the internal and spiritual practices of martial arts. So at 15, he began to train in the art of "Wing Chun" with Sifu Randy Lee. A few years later he was introduced to Sifu Duke Garcia who opened up a never-ending stream of Martial arts knowledge. And he wants to share what he knows with as many people as possible.
"I feel that it is a great privilege to pass on the knowledge I have obtained throughout my martial arts career. I have embarked on a never ending journey of self mastery and self discovery through my martial arts training, and it gives me a sense of rediscovery when I am able to help an individual align themselves in mind, body, and spirit through my teachings,” says Bilal.
At TITLE Boxing Club, Bilal uses the techniques he has mastered to create invigorating and challenging POWER HOUR fitness classes. He pushes each member to hit it harder than they thought they could as they burn calories and build their sense of self.
"I want a person who leaves my class to walk away feeling as though they can conquer any challenge that is laid in there path, and do it with the confidence that is instilled in the martial arts training I provide,” he concludes.
You can experience a Bilal POWER HOUR at the Lee’s Summit TITLE Boxing Club.
